As a senior academic advisor to the Provost, Dr. Robert Savukinas focuses on the analysis and standardization of best practices across the institute. Dr. Savukinas formerly served DLIFLC as its Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Accreditation Liaison Officer. In this capacity, Dr. Savukinas led DLIFLC through a full accreditation cycle to achieve reaffirmation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges. He also achieved unprecedented success leading U.S. Army TRADOC quality assurance and American Council on Education evaluations. Concurrently, Dr. Savukinas managed the institution’s degree program, registrar division and board. Prior to entering the education sector, Dr. Savukinas served as congressional staff member and a military officer. He has more than 21 years in the education sector ranging from high school teacher, college faculty, registrar, associate dean and ALO. Dr. Savukinas earned a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Administration from the George Washington University, Washington, D.C., a Master of Arts in Spanish Language, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish. He is fluent in Italian. Dr. Savukinas has published and/or presented in the area of Spanish literature, community colleges and students with disabilities, open universities, and facility-improving community college partnerships.
